Flow Home Services handles flooring installation in St. Petersburg homes and condos. We put down luxury vinyl plank, laminate and tile floors. Most of the job happens before the first plank goes down: pulling the old floor and flattening the slab. Call or text (727) 404-7164 for a free estimate.
Homes here sit on concrete slabs, and slabs are rarely flat. A floor that skips the prep will click and flex later. Send photos of the rooms and we can work up an estimate without a visit. We also handle handyman work around St. Petersburg, so one company covers the floor and the repair list.

Luxury vinyl plank is the floor most people here ask for. Most of it is waterproof, it clicks together over the slab, and it handles sand and wet feet. Planks come in wood looks and tile looks, in a few widths and thicknesses.
Laminate looks close to real wood and holds up well in bedrooms and living rooms. It does not like standing water, so we keep it out of laundry rooms and bathrooms. Thicker planks and a good pad under them make a floor sound solid instead of hollow.
Tile is the third option, and it fits bathrooms, entries and kitchens. Tile goes over a membrane or backer board, so a crack in the slab stays out of the grout. Tile installation covers the layout, the cuts and the grout in more detail.
Prep is most of the work. Old carpet comes up with the tack strip and any pad stapled to the floor. Old tile and glued down vinyl take longer, since the mortar or glue has to come off the slab too.
Then the slab gets checked with a straightedge. High spots get ground down. Low spots get filled with a patch or a self leveling mix. That has to cure before anything goes on top.
Baseboard either comes off and goes back on, or stays put with new quarter round at the wall. Where the new floor meets tile or carpet in the next room, a threshold strip covers the edge. Trim that comes off usually wants a fresh coat, and interior painting handles that part.
Much of St. Petersburg was built as 1950s to 1970s block ranch homes. Pull up the carpet in one and there is often terrazzo underneath. Terrazzo that is flat and sound can stay as the base for a new plank floor. Bungalows in the older neighborhoods can have wood subfloors instead, which get checked for soft spots and squeaks first.
Condos come with rules of their own. Many buildings ask for an underlayment under hard flooring to keep footsteps quiet, and some limit when work can happen. Get the rules from your association before you buy material, and we install what the building allows.
Helene and Milton flooded low lying neighborhoods here in 2024. Homes in Shore Acres, Riviera Bay and the beach towns lost floors and the bottom of the walls. We come in on the finish side, once the room is dry and the slab is clean. Drywall repair covers the wall side of a rebuild.
