Drywall Repair in St. Petersburg, FL

Drywall Repair · St. Petersburg, FL

Wall and ceiling patches that disappear under paint

Most drywall repair starts with one spot you keep looking at. A doorknob went through the hallway wall, or a crack runs off the corner of a window. Maybe a ceiling seam opened up and the tape is showing. We cut the damage out, set in new board and blend the patch into the wall around it.

Flow Home Services is a veteran-owned handyman and remodeling company based in St. Petersburg. Drywall runs through most of the handyman work we take on, from one patch to a gutted room. We also hang and finish new board inside a full bathroom remodel. Estimates are free, and you can text photos of the damage to (727) 404-7164.

What our drywall repair service covers

A drywall repair service is mostly finish work. Screwing a new piece of board to a stud is the quick part. What shows later is the tape, the mud and the sanding. We square up the damage, back it, set new board in and tape the seams.

Compound goes on in coats. Each coat runs wider than the last, so the patch feathers out flat. We sand between coats and check the wall with a light held low across it. A flat patch is what lets the paint sit right.

Small repairs pile up on a pre-sale punch list. One of our Google reviews comes from a real estate agent. She uses the company to get her sellers' homes ready for market, and to handle upgrades for her buyers. Patch lists like that get worked in order, and the walls are left ready for paint.

Water damaged drywall in St. Petersburg homes and condos

Hurricane Helene pushed storm surge into low lying parts of St. Petersburg in late September 2024. Hurricane Milton followed that October. Shore Acres, Riviera Bay and the beach towns took the worst of it. Plenty of those homes were gutted to the studs.

Drywall that took on water usually comes out rather than staying in place. It gets cut above the water line, pulled off the wall and replaced. Our part of that work is the board itself: cut out, new sheet, tape, finish and texture. Drying and leak work sit outside what we do.

Condos add a wrinkle. Access and building rules shape how new board comes in and how the trash goes out. We talk that part through when we look at the job. Floors often come out with the wall board, and new flooring goes down once the walls are closed.

Texture matching and ceiling repair

Texture is the part people forget about. Knockdown, orange peel and a smooth wall each patch differently. A flat patch on a textured wall still shows after paint, so we match what is already there.

We mix a test batch and put it on a scrap piece first. Then it gets knocked down or stippled until it reads like the wall. The new texture carries past the edge of the patch so it blends instead of stopping in a line.

Ceilings are harder than walls. Everything is overhead, light crosses the surface all day and every seam shows. We repair cracked ceiling seams, water stained board and sagging sections, then bring the texture back over the top. When a ceiling match needs help, painting the whole ceiling evens out the color.

FAQ

Drywall Repair Questions, Answered

Common questions about drywall repair across St. Petersburg and Pinellas County. If yours is not here, call or text and ask.

Call (727) 404-7164

What does drywall repair cost?
Estimates are free, so the real answer comes from looking at the job. Price moves with the number of spots, their size and whether they sit on a wall or a ceiling. Texture matching and paint add to it. Text photos to (727) 404-7164 and we can get you a number.
How long does a drywall patch take?
Most patches need two or three coats of compound. Each coat has to dry before the next one goes on, and that sets the pace. A single small repair can still run across more than one visit. We go over the schedule when we look at the job.
Can you match the texture on my wall?
Usually, yes. Knockdown and orange peel both match well once we test the mix on a scrap piece. Smooth walls take more sanding, because a flat wall hides nothing. Very old or hand done textures are harder, and we say so before we start.
Do you repair water damaged drywall?
Yes. We cut the wet board out, replace it, tape, finish and match the texture. The wall has to be dry first and the leak handled. Our part of the job is the board and the finish.
My house is an older block home. Does that change the repair?
It can. Some block homes have the wall board on wood strips fastened to the block. A patch there needs backing set behind it before new board goes in. Older houses also crack in the same spots again, like door corners and ceiling seams.
Do you handle the drywall inside a remodel?
Yes. New board goes up when a wall gets opened or a shower gets rebuilt. We finish it flat and paint ready, and we can paint it as well. One company handles the repair list and the remodel.
